Zhou Jinfeng: Contributing China's Power to Global Environmental Governance | CBCGDF Delegation to the 6th United Nations Environment Assembly

The 6th United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-6) was successfully held on February 26th. Dr Zhou Jinfeng, Vice President and Secretary General of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) led a delegation of CBCGDF to Nairobi, Kenya, on February 25th, 2024, to take part in UNEA-6The theme of the conference are "Effective, inclusive and sustainable multilateral action to address climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution".

On February 26th, 18:30-19:45 Nairobi time, Dr. Zhou Jinfeng was invited to participate in the UNEA-6 official side event titled "United Nations Plastics Treaty: Reuse - a Climate and Plastic Solution", which was co-hosted by Chile, Fiji, and the Global Alliance to Advance Reuse (GAAR). The side event focused on the reuse of plastic and discussing possible financial mechanisms. It will result in recommendations for consideration at the upcoming fourth and fifth sessions of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee for a Plastics Treaty in 2024.


During the event, Dr Zhou Jinfeng spoke on behalf of the CBCGDF, introducing the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation and a series of initiatives to support recycling and reuse, such as "Chopsticks Go Chopsticks Go", in response to the theme of "Reuse and Recycling". He also introduced a series of initiatives launched by CBCGDF, such as "Chopsticks Go Chopsticks Go", to support recycling and reuse, as well as CBCGDF's efforts in recent years to respond to the reduction of plastic pollution and sustainable development, such as participating in the formulation of relevant standards and laws and regulations and promoting environmental protection and sustainable development through environmental public interest litigation.


CBCGDF welcomes researchers, organizations, civil society and research institutions from all walks of life in China to join us and leverage the strengths of all sectors of society to exert greater influence in global environmental governance.


CBCGDF will continue to tell China's story to the world, spread China's voice, increase China's global discourse and influence, do a good job of serving China's scientific and technological workers, and make unremitting efforts for China to play a greater role and influence in global environmental governance.
