“Green Meeting”! CMS COP14 Does not Provide Bottled Water & Paper Documents

The Fourteenth Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (COP14) has done a good job in terms of green meeting. According to the observation of the delegation of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) , which attended the conference in Uzbekistan, the conference focuses on reducing the environmental impact and reflects the concept of green meeting” in many details.

For example, each representative received a hot water cup after registering for the credential. This approach aims to reduce the use of disposable plastic cups, and call participants for reusing their own cups throughout the meeting. Undoubtedly, this is not only to reduce the production of plastic waste, but also to the principle of saving and green. Ms. Yutong Xiong, Deputy SG of CBCGDF, noticed that no bottled water was provided. The organizers of the conference encouraged representatives to use water machines and their own cups provided by the organizers.

Also, it was impressive that no paper documents were provided throughout the conference. Delegates can access and view documents electronically, without the need for mass printing and paper use, which greatly saves resources and reduces the waste of forest resources.
