Occurrence Data of Liparis chefuensis in Rizhao City, Shandong Province Released on Global Biodiversity Information Facility

On February 5, 2024, the GBIF working group of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) released the occurrence data of Liparis chefuensis observed in Rizhao City, Shandong Province on Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) for reference and downloading. The data come from the contribution of Mr. Xiao Han, a citizen scientist.

 


The Liparis chefuensis is mainly distributed in the northwest Pacific region of the Yellow Sea in China. It usually appears in the near seabed and lives in waters with depths of 5-30 meters. Adult individuals can grow up to 16.5 centimeters in length.

 


The release of this data benefited from the contribution of of Mr. Xiao Han, a citizen scientist. Citizen science refers to the participation of ordinary people in scientific research activities. Through their observations and data collection, it provides a large amount of valuable information for global scientific research and scientific policy formulation.

 

The Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) is an international scientific project that brings together biodiversity data from all over the world. It is known as one of the most important "infrastructures" of global biodiversity informatics, a providing important open data support for global scientific research and environmental protection.
