CBCGDF Volunteers in Anshan Assist Public Security Authorities in Seizing Illegal Hunting More Than 100 Mustela sibirica

Recently, a group of volunteers from the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) in Anshan, China, assisted the public security department in seizing illegal hunting of several nationally protected animals. The number of animals involved in the case is 161 Mustela sibirica, 6 squirrels, 29 Muskrat and 1 Martes. The case is currently under trial.

The Mustela sibirica is commonly known as the weasel and the yellow fairy in Chinese folklore and fairy tales. In fact, the weasel is a kind lovely animal under the Suborder of Caniformia, in most rural areas, they have Rattus norvegicus as the main food, so, from the perspective of humans, the weasel is also a "beneficial animal".

The weasel is one of the animals on the List of Land Wildlife with Important Ecological, Scientific, and Social Value under State Protection.

Volunteers are appealing to the public to protect wildlife and preserve the ecological environment. They are urging people to say "no" to hunting, killing, and trafficking of wildlife. They are also requesting the public to report any such incidents to local Public Security Authorities.
