CBCGDF Co-organized the “New Frontiers for Ecological Connectivity: From Policy to Implementation” Side Event at CMS COP14

The Fourteenth Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (COP14) hosted in Samarkand from 12-17 February 2024. As a partner of CMS, China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) sent a delegation to the field.

Together with Center for Large Landscape Conservation (CLLC), IUCN-WCPA Connectivity Conservation Specialist Group (CCSG),  Secretariat of the Convention on Migratory Species (CMS), World Wide Fund for Nature, etc., CBCGDF co-organized the side event with the title of New Frontiers for Ecological Connectivity: From Policy to Implementation at 18:15-19:00 on February 13, 2024.

Participants shared information about efforts around the world that are moving connectivity conservation from discourse to implementation. The program included an overview of international policy developments and speakers from government and civil society reflecting on progress made by CMS and at regional and national levels. Short presentations also provided examples of existing and upcoming resources, tools, and activities for implementation, including updates on collaborative initiatives, on-the-ground projects, and available technical and capacity-building resources for understanding threats, opportunities, and actions for connectivity conservation.
