Civilian+Government" Joint Protection to Provide "Shelter" for More Injured Wild Animals | 2024 CBCGDF Proposals to “Two Sessions”

The China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) set up a “bridge” to gather voices from scientists and people to the country’s top legislative bodies for the “Two Sessions”, China’s most important political and legislative conferences in March 2024.

From the long-term practical experience of CBCGDF, a large number of wild animals in various regions need to be rescued every year due to injuries, poisoning, etc. However, often due to the lack of local rescue institutions, lack of funds, some wild animals often find it difficult to receive timely and effective rescue.

Hereby, CBCGDF suggested that:

To develop a "Civilian+Government" joint protection model at the national level, on the one hand, special funds for wildlife rescue projects can be established to increase financial support, and on the other hand, policies, systems and other measures can guide and absorb social donations to ensure that every rescue operation can proceed smoothly;

To strengthen the provision of corresponding compensation to individuals or organizations who have made contributions or investments, encourage rescue activities, and attract more social forces to participate in wildlife rescue operations;

To strengthen the professional capacity building of full-time (part-time) personnel, volunteers, and other teams responsible for wildlife rescue; And

To Promote popularization in areas such as biodiversity science popularization, ways and methods of wildlife rescue, and how the public or organizations can join volunteer teams for wildlife rescue.
