CBCGDF Volunteers “Peoples vs Plastics” Action During Chinese New Year

On February 13th, during the Chinese New Year. Volunteers from the People vs. Plastics project of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) Reduce and Pick-up Plastics Working Group came to the Wenyuan Park in Leiting County, Tangshan in the early morning to start the “Peoples vs Plastics” action. This activity is to let people know the harm of microplastics to marine life and human beings; the importance of plastic reduction; how to classify wastes, the degradation of plastics and other waste in nature, and other environmental protection knowledge.

First, the volunteers use the brochures to publicise the importance of waste sorting. Through the doodling activities, the children learned the importance of protecting the ocean and deepened their knowledge of the harmful effects of plastic garbage on marine life. Let the children understand the importance of protecting the oceans, and deepen their cognition of the harm of plastic garbage to marine life.

Next, the volunteers distributed "plastic reduction" publicity brochures to the people playing in the park and explained the relevant knowledge. More than 100 copies of the "plastic reduction" brochures were distributed in this publicity activity.

 

This publicity activity was actively participated by local park visitors and also planted the "seed" of environmental protection in the hearts of the children who participated in the activity.

Finally, the volunteers awarded each participant with a certificate of activity, hoping they would participate in more environmental protection activities in the future and continue to contribute to the cause of environmental protection.
