On World Wetlands Day, CBCGDF Volunteers Safeguarding the Ecological Safety of Hutuo River Wetlands in Severe Winter| CBCGDF CCAfa

World Wetlands Day is celebrated every year on February 2nd. In order to understand the local wetland environmental conditions and convey the concept of wetland protection to the public, the volunteers of Hutuo River Wetland Conservationn Area of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) recently carried out patrol along river on Feb 4,2024.

The Hutuo River is located in Huangbi Viliiage, Luquan District, Shijiazhuang City, where is also the CBCGDF Hutuo River Wetland Conservationn Area. The majority of the Hutuo River still retains its natural appearance with dense vegetation inside and dense jungles and orchards on both sides of the river. Wild animal and plant resources are abundant here which make it one of the most natural wetland environments in the Shijiazhuang area, providing habitats for many birds. Every year during the migratory season, a large number of birds gather here to feed and rest, among which there are also national key protected wild animals such as swans, great bustards, and black storks.

During the patrol, volunteers continuously promoted the importance of wetland environmental protection and wildlife conservation to pedestrians on the roadside.

At present, this area has not been included in a nature reserve. In order to maintain the health of the ecological environment, CBCGDF volunteers have been actively taking on wetland protection work for a long time. They have been patrolling for years, closely cooperating with local departments to severely crack down on illegal activities such as illegal fishing, harming rivers, lakes and wetland resources and the environment, and destroying the habitats and feeding grounds of wild animals, etc.
