Ebrima JARRA Introduces African Soil Strength Programme | CBCGDF UNEA-6 Green Room event

The Sixth United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA 6) will be held in Nairobi, Kenya from February 26 to March 1, 2024. Dr. Zhou Jinfeng, Secretary-General of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (rCBCGDF), led the CBCGDF delegation to attend the conference. The theme of UNEA-6 is Effective, inclusive and sustainable multilateral action to address climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution.

From 17:00 to 18:30 Nairobi time on February 27, 2024, a Green Room event with the theme of "Biodiversity Conservation in Our Neighborhood(BCON): Human-based Solutions to Address Nature Crisis" hosted by the CBCGDF was held at the headquarters of the United Nations Environment Programme.

 

Ebrima JARRA, founder and executive director of THE SOIL SOLUTION, highlighted the African soil strength programme.

 

The project is an initiative aimed at improving soil health and fertility across the continent. The focus is on developing sustainable solutions to the challenges farmers face due to poor soil health through research, education and community engagement. The project aims to promote the use of organic farming methods, reduce the use of unmeasured and unspecified harmful chemicals, and increase crop yields, hoping to contribute to food security and poverty reduction. It is expected to reverse the trend of biodiversity loss in the region.

 

Through the project, farmers receive resources and training on various sustainable land use modules to improve soil quality, thereby increasing crop yields and improving food security.

 

Other goals include promoting sustainable land management practices, reducing soil degradation, and biodiversity and increasing the resilience of smallholder farmers to climate change.

The CBCGDF delegation will continue to bring insightful news from the conference.
