CBCGDF’s Proposal to 2024 “Two Sessions” | Establishing an Enterprise Biodiversity Information Disclosure System

The China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) held the “2024 Proposal Meeting for the Two Sessions” on February 1, 2024. The “Two Sessions” Proposal Working Group of CBCGDF welcomes active suggestions from all sectors of society to provide more high-quality suggestions for promoting biodiversity conservation and green development.

 

The meeting invited many representatives National People’s Congress representatives and members of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference who are concerned about ecological environment resources, health, pollution control, and environmental legal construction. The meeting was live streamed with a total of 157,000 online attendees.

 

At the meeting, the Policy and Law Department of CBCGDF shared the suggestion of “Establishing an enterprise biodiversity information disclosure system”. With the increasing attention paid to biodiversity issues, biodiversity is bound to become a focus of sustainable development for enterprises. However, the current situation is that the disclosure of biodiversity information is still at the initial level, and most enterprises lack the awareness of active disclosure of biodiversity issues. Moreover, from the perspective of disclosure forms, the disclosure of biodiversity information lacks uniform norms and objective description standards, which are difficult to quantify. Therefore, it is necessary to clarify the specific operational norms of enterprise biodiversity information disclosure through institutionalization and establishment of an evaluation system.
