Join the Fight for Nature: CBCGDF Legal Committee Calls for Plaintiffs for Environmental Public Interest Lawsuit Regarding Case in Guizhou's Maotai Town

 In response to the environmental violations committed by Maotai Town Golden Sauce Liquor Industry Co., Ltd. in Renhuai City, Guizhou Province, the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) has announced a nationwide call for new plaintiffs in the environmental public interest lawsuit against the company.

 

The CBCGDF, also known as the China Green Development Foundation, is committed to halting environmental violations and safeguarding public interests. The foundation aims to actively engage environmental organizations across the country in its efforts to address the misconduct of Maotai Town Golden Sauce Liquor Industry Co., Ltd. The focus is on recruiting new plaintiffs for the environmental civil public interest lawsuit.

 

Upon the identification of new plaintiffs, CBCGDF solemnly pledges:

 

Firstly, as a supporting entity for public interest litigation, CBCGDF will provide all relevant information and any assistance available, including litigation expenses and legal representation. The foundation is dedicated to efficiently advancing the case, putting an end to environmental violations, and tangibly protecting the public interest in the social environment.

 

Secondly, the primary objective is to rectify the unlawful actions through environmental public interest litigation, restore the contaminated ecological environment, and ensure that wrongdoers compensate for ecological losses. Simultaneously, the foundation aims to garner broader public attention for the case, fostering awareness of ecological security, and disseminating knowledge about environmental laws. The ultimate goal of these public interest litigation endeavors is to propel the construction of the nation's ecological civilization, safeguarding the collective environmental interests of society.

 

This announcement serves as a commitment to transparency and accountability in the pursuit of environmental justice. CBCGDF invites concerned parties to participate in this crucial endeavor.

BACKGROUND INFO:

 

Maotai Town Golden Sauce Liquor Industry Co., Ltd., (贵州省仁怀市茅台镇金酱酒业有限公司) located in Renhuai City, Guizhou Province, has been involved in multiple environmental violations, including:

 

On April 20, 2022, fined RMB 290,000 by Zunyi City Ecological Environment Bureau Renhuai Sub-bureau for the illegal commencement of construction without obtaining approval for the environmental impact assessment document.

 

On June 18, 2020, fined RMB 150,000 by Zunyi City Ecological Environment Bureau for inadequate measures in handling cellar bottom water and leakage into the Shiba River.

 

On March 24, 2022, fined RMB 449,115.7 by Renhuai City Comprehensive Administrative Law Enforcement Bureau for illegal land occupation, including the restoration of 38,277.6 square meters of forest land. Additionally, the company was named in the second round of the Central Ecological Environment Protection Inspection Report Implementation Plan for illegal land occupation since 2020, with the company failing to cease its illegal activities even after being penalized twice before the inspection.

 

The specific facts of the aforementioned violations have been confirmed and penalized by local ecological environment and comprehensive administrative law enforcement authorities.
