Bridging Gaps and Fostering Conservation: Peking University's Prof. LI Dihua to Share Insights at the CMS COP14 Conference

Peking University's Associate Professor and Deputy Dean of the College of Architecture and Landscape, LI Dihua, is set to participate in the upcoming 14th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS) in 2024. This side event is organized by the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF), where LI Dihua will contribute valuable insights from China's experiences in natural conservation.

With a diverse background encompassing academia and practical landscape planning, LI Dihua has dedicated himself to the study of landscape ecology, urban and rural ecology, and landscape sociology. His research and educational endeavors aim to advance the application of ecological knowledge and methodologies within the realms of urban studies and landscape architecture.

Under the theme "Repair Damaged Connectivity in the Wolong Panda National Park —— Understanding Problems and Creating Possibilities," LI Dihua's presentation promises to delve into the challenges faced by this vital ecosystem and explore innovative solutions. The Wolong Panda National Park, a cornerstone in wildlife conservation efforts, has been grappling with connectivity issues, and LI Dihua's discourse aims to shed light on these problems while proposing pathways for rejuvenation.

As a thought leader in the field, and one of the founder of the theory of "Sponge City", Prof. LI Dihua's insights will not only enrich the discourse on wildlife conservation but also offer a glimpse into the intersection of academic research and practical solutions. By sharing China's experiences, he contributes to the global dialogue on safeguarding migratory species and promoting sustainable practices.

The CMS COP14 Conference serves as a platform for international collaboration, bringing together experts, researchers, and policymakers to address challenges in wildlife conservation. LI Dihua's participation underscores the significance of China's commitment to biodiversity protection and showcases the country's contributions to the global conservation agenda.
