CBCGDF Successfully Held “Migratory Species and Biodiversity Conservation in Our Neighborhood” Side Event at CMS COP14

The Fourteenth Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (COP14) will be hosted in Samarkand from 12-17 February 2024.

As the partner of CMS, China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) sent a delegation to the field, and organized a side event on Feb.15.


With the theme “Migratory Species and Biodiversity Conservation in Our Neighborhood” , the event was held from 12:45 to 13:30 on February 15, in Bukhara Room, Silk Road Samarkand Congress Center, Samarkand, Uzbekistan.

The meeting showcase
d successful experiences of public participation in the conservation of migratory species, as well as the challenges faced by migratory species. Guests were also invited to share their community or organization's solutions for migratory species conservation. 


Ms. Yutong Xiong, Deputy SG of CBCGDF Introduced Biodiversity Conservation in Our Neighborhood at the event. Ian Redmond, chairman of Ape Alliance shared the effects of air and ocean currents on migratory speciesMr. Gabriel Oppler International Policy and Partnerships Specialist of International Connectivity Program at the Center for Large Landscape Conservation shared IUCN-WCPA Connectivity Conservation Specialist Group and its recent activities. Dr. Andrew Dixon, Director of Science & Conservation at the Mohamed Bin Zayed Raptor Conservation Fund, highlights the role of community engagement in the conservation and management of raptors and their grassland habitats in MongoliaDihua Li,Associate Professor and Deputy Dean of College of Architecture and Landscape, Peking University, gave a keynote speech, with the title of Repair Damaged Connectivity in the Wolong Panda National Park-- Understanding Problems and Creating Possibilities.
