CBCGDF Calls for Plaintiffs for Northeast Special Steel Group Co., Ltd's Environmental Pollution Case

In order to stop environmental violations and safeguard social public interests, the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) has decided to calls for plaintiffs across the country for the environmental public interest litigation of Northeast Special Steel Group Co., Ltd.s environmental pollution case. 

After the new plaintiff in this case is confirmed,CBCGDF solemnly promises:

1. As a public interest litigation support unit, we will provide all case information and all other help we can provide free of charge, including litigation fees, assistance in hiring lawyers, etc., to jointly and efficiently promote the progress of the case, stop environmental violations, and benefit the public welfare of the society and environment.

2. Our purpose is to correct illegal acts, repair the polluted ecological environment, and allow the offenders to compensate for ecological losses through environmental public interest litigation; at the same time, we will attract more public attention to this case, pay attention to ecological safety, and popularize environmental legal knowledge. Our ultimate goal in carrying out public interest litigation is to promote the construction of national ecological civilization and safeguard social and public environmental interests.

Case Brief Introduction

Northeast Special Steel Group Co., Ltd., as a key pollutant discharging unit in Dalian City, has committed many environmental violations. Among them, in 2021 alone, it was administratively fined several times for environmental violations, with the total amount involved reaching tens of millions of yuan. Some details are as follows: on July 23, 2021, it discharged a huge amount of air pollutants without obtaining a pollution discharge permit, and was fined 300,000 yuan; on October 28 and November 25, it was fined 7.8 million yuan and 9 million yuan respectively for refusing to correct its illegal behaviors, etc..

The above-mentioned illegal acts have been confirmed and punished by the local ecological environment administrative law enforcement department. For details, please refer to the administrative penalty decision of Dalian Municipal Ecological Environment Bureau.
