Wild Boars Removed From The "Three Lists‘’, and Animal Traps Resurge? | Highting: All Of These Behaviors Are Illegal!

Recently, CBCGDF volunteers have noticed that as wild boars are removed from the list of terrestrial wild animals of important ecological, scientific, and social value ( the "three lists"), the phenomenon of selling trading animal traps online has significantly increased, and the use of this illegal hunting tool offline has also become more serious. In January 2024, during volunteer patrols, it was discovered that someone was using this new type of animal trap. Volunteers are very concerned about this phenomenon because there are some National second level protected animals distributed in the local jungle, and businesses selling these illegal fishing gear publicly may make people try to purchase and install them privately, threatening these protected animals.

Hunting wild animals without authorization, selling prohibited hunting gear without authorization, and installing animal traps are all illegal behaviors. These animal traps are also bound to endanger the local public safety. Many reports show that animal traps are injuring people; Secondly, animal traps have no selectivity for the animals they hunt, and if they harm some precious and endangered wildlife species, it is illegal. Regarding the use of hunting tools, although there are relevant laws and regulations, there are still difficulties in the actual implementation process, such as the sale and deployment of illegal fishing tools online or offline. To increase regulation, in addition to increasing regulation in sales, circulation, and use, it can also be banned from the production process.

In addition, it is currently winter and wild animals are more active in foraging, which seems to provide convenience for some illegal hunting activities to some extent. In this regard, CBCGDF calls on volunteers to be extra careful and protect the safety of human life and property, as well as the safety of wild animals during winter field patrols. At the same time, actively apply relevant laws and regulations issued by China to protect wildlife.
