To Include over 200 CBCGDF Community Conservation Areas in the National List of Critical Habitats for Terrestrial Wildlife | CBCGDF’s Proposals for the 2024 Two Sessions

The China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) "Two Sessions" Proposal Working Group plans to hold the "2024 'Two Sessions' Recommendations Meeting" on February 1, 2024. It welcomes suggestions from all walks of life to provide more high-quality proposals on promoting biodiversity conservation and green development. Here is one of the proposal submitted by CBCGDF Two Sessions Working Group entitled "To Include over 200 CBCGDF Community Conservation Areas in the National List of Critical Habitats for Terrestrial Wildlife ".

In December 2023, the National Forestry and Grassland Administration issued the "Interim Method for the Identification of Critical Habitats for Terrestrial Wildlife", which clearly requires the forestry and grassland departments of all provinces and cities to include areas that are critical habitats for terrestrial wildlife into the list as a useful supplement to national parks and the nature reserve system.

Since 2106, CBCGDF has successively built and effectively operated more than 200  Community Conservation areas(CCAfas), almost 70% of which are based on the protection of important terrestrial wildlife habitats and the protection of important ecological corridors. It was set up in 2016, and each area has played an important role in actively cooperating with local ecological protection and has become an important force in ecological protection. Therefore, it is recommended to comprehensively include them in the National List of Critical Habitats for Terrestrial Wildlife to unite and strengthen the protection of  these crucial comprehensive habitats for terrestrial wildlife. We will implement the national biodiversity conservation strategy on a larger scale and at a deeper level and contribute to the construction of the new civilization.
