CBCGDF Patrol Volunteers Advisory: Call the Police If You Encounter a "Beast Trap"

Recently, CBCGDF Heilongjiang volunteers discovered that some vendors used words such as "wire rope" and "outdoor products" to promote, demonstrate, and sell new animal traps on online platforms.

It is understood that these new animal traps are composed of sensors, wire ropes, etc., and are mainly used to hunt some large wild animals. In early January this year, when volunteers at CBCGDF protected areas patrolled the mountains, they discovered that someone had set up such animal traps on the "animal paths". Volunteers said that this kind of bear trap has a very sensitive response. Once someone or a wild animal unfortunately steps on the trap, the wire rope will tighten immediately. As long as the prey moves slightly, the cable jacket will tighten and tighten, even causing damage to their limbs.

It is illegal to sell prohibited fishing equipment, set up animal traps, and hunt wild animals without permission. It is illegal for businesses to openly sell and promote these illegal fishing gear; these behaviors may also arouse the curiosity of many people without legal awareness and cause harm to public safety and wildlife.

Suggestions:

It is recommended that you do not go to wild jungle activities unless necessary; if you must go to wild activities, do not go alone and pay attention to your feet when walking. If you find or unfortunately step on this kind of animal trap or other illegal hunting tools such as hunting traps and hunting snares, you should call the police immediately.
