The Strategy and Action Plan for Biodiversity Conservation Released | CBCGDF Standards Committee Helps to Establish Guidelines for Corporate Biodiversity Information Disclosure

On January 18, 2024, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment issued the Strategy and Action Plan for Biodiversity Conservation in China (2023-2030). The Action Plan introduces the current status and threats of biodiversity, summarizes and analyzes the achievements, opportunities and challenges of biodiversity conservation in China, which puts forward a biodiversity conservation strategy in the new era.

Priority Action 5: Corporate Biodiversity requires a scientific assessment of the impact of corporate business activities on biodiversity, and promotes the inclusion of biodiversity-related information in the legal disclosure of corporate environmental information and its supervision and management activities.

In December 2023, China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) issued a notice on the establishment of the "Guidelines for Corporate Biodiversity Information Disclosure" and started the draft work. China's corporate biodiversity information disclosure is still in its infancy. Guided by the Action Plan, CBCGDF will promote enterprises to enhance their awareness of biodiversity information disclosure and make it standardized, and guide enterprises to actively implement their social responsibilities for biodiversity conservation.
