Is it Really Good to Decorate the Trees with Plastic Flowers during the Chinese New Year | Aesthetic Reflection in the Era of New Civilization

Recently, in a park in Haidian District, Beijing, I saw workers decorating winter trees with colorful plastic flowers. The originally bare trees seem to become very festive. I learned from the workers that it would take two full days to complete this decoration project.

Is this really a good way to decorate? In fact, this practice of putting plastic flowers on trees is a typical manifestation of aesthetic values in the industrial civilization era. However, in today's world where plastic pollution has become a global environmental problem, it is worth pondering whether this aesthetic concept should continue to exist.

The negative impact of plastic flower decoration is mainly reflected in environmental pollution. While pursuing beauty, we should also consider environmental protection and sustainable development issues. In addition, with the increasing awareness of environmental protection among people, the aesthetic values that cause excessive waste (such as excessive packaging) and environmental damage are being severely challenged. Perhaps, when decorating trees, we can find environmentally friendly and recyclable ways.

Maybe trees in winter show a serene beauty, without the need for plastic flowers or other artificial decorations. The natural withering and silence of winter is also a unique art.
