"Biodiversity Conservation in Our Neighborhood" Won the 2023 Public Welfare Innovation Award

Recently, in the selection of the 13th Public Welfare Festival in 2023, after nomination and recommendation, the jury deliberated, the concept of "Biodiversity Conservation in Our Neighborhood" (BCON) of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) won the 2023 Public Welfare Innovation Award.


Biodiversity Conservation in Our Neighborhoods (BCON) is an approach that encourages the protection of biodiversity in people's daily lives and activities.
Target : all people.
Long-term goal: to foster the awareness of "nature around us" and promote harmonious coexistence between humans and nature.
Results so far:
The Community Conservation Areas (CCAfa) Initiative was launched, and about 200 CCAfas have been established.

The initiative has helped to promote the establishment of China's first local regulations on biodiversity conservation.

About 165 best practices BCON cases have been published, which serve as vivid examples inspiring people to follow.

Key partners: Over 200 communities, thousands of volunteers, conservationists, over 20 ecological farms in China performing BCON and the news media.
