CBCGDF Solicits Plaintiffs in Xianju Huatong Breeding Pig Co., Ltd's Environmental Pollution Case

In order to stop environmental violations, safeguard social public interests, and crack down on environmental violations of Xianju Huatong Breeding Pig Co., Ltd. in Taizhou City, Zhejiang Province, the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) is soliciting new plaintiffs in this case from environmental organizations.

After the new plaintiff in this case is confirmed,CBCGDF solemnly promises:

1. As a public interest litigation support unit, we will provide all case information and all other help we can provide free of charge, including litigation fees, assistance in hiring lawyers, etc., to jointly and efficiently promote the progress of the case, stop environmental violations, and benefit the public welfare of the society and environment.

2. Our purpose is to correct illegal acts, repair the polluted ecological environment, and allow the offenders to compensate for ecological losses through environmental public interest litigation; at the same time, we will attract more public attention to this case, pay attention to ecological safety, and popularize environmental legal knowledge. Our ultimate goal in carrying out public interest litigation is to promote the construction of national ecological civilization and safeguard social and public environmental interests.

Case Brief Introduction

 

Xianju Huatong Breeding Pig Co., Ltd. has committed multiple environmental violations, as follows:

1.On September 14, 2022, January 12, 2022, and September 15, 2021, the company which engages in large-scale livestock and poultry breeding, repeatedly failed to collect, store, utilize or dispose of the manure of livestock and poultry in a timely manner, thus causing environmental pollution, serious circumstances, and multiple illegal acts of dumping, and were punished by the Xianju County Comprehensive Law Enforcement Bureau.

2.On March 18, 2022, it was punished by the Taizhou Municipal Ecological Environment Bureau for "failure to implement zero wastewater discharge in accordance with environmental impact assessment requirements and failing to resubmit the environmental impact assessment report for approval."

3.On March 18, 2022, it was punished by the Taizhou Municipal Ecological Environment Bureau for "indirectly discharging water pollutants into water bodies by entrusting external transportation for treatment without obtaining a pollutant discharge permit in accordance with the law."

4. On March 1, 2022, it was punished by the Taizhou Municipal Ecological Environment Bureau for "failure to formulate an emergency plan for water pollution accidents and failure to take effective emergency measures, which caused the sewage in the wastewater treatment facility to overflow to the environment outside the factory wall."
