Zhou Jinfeng, who received his PhD from Peking University and Purdue University, is currently Vice President and Secretary-General of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation, Vice President of the World Green Design Organization, and a member of the Executive Committee of the Club of Rome. He is also a member of the Executive Committee of IUCN Marine Connectivity Working Group and a member of the Expert Group of Global Pact for the Environment. He was a member of the 9th, 10th, and 11th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and a member of the CPPCC Proposal Committee. He was the first initiator of the “Guangcai Programme”(1994), awarded the “Second National Innovation Prize”in 2020,“Cavaliere, Ordine della Stella d'Italia”by Italy President in 2021, and the Person of the Year by China Newsweek in 2021; And in 2023, he was honored as a member of the World Academy of Art and Science (WAAS).


He has long been committed to the theoretical research and practice of ecological civilization and sustainable development, promoting marine ecological connectivity and biodiversity conservation. He has participated in the assessment of the World Natural Heritage and drafted more than 30 national group standards, including Conservation Welfare Protocol of Spotted Seals, Evaluation criteria for biology and science ethics, and Biosafety General Standards (T/CGDF 00008—2021). 


The China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) has long been committed to the conservation and governance of marine biodiversity. Headquartered in Beijing, the organization is a national-level society in the field of biodiversity and is committed to biodiversity conservation and green development. CBCGDF is an observer to international organizations and conventions such as the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), the International Seabed Authority (ISA), the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) and the Ramsar Convention. It has been committed to global ocean governance for a long time, and has created a professional team on “OceanWetlands”, participated in many negotiation meetings of the "Agreement under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea on the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Marine Biological Diversity of Areas Beyond National Jurisdiction" (BBNJ) , and Intergovernmental negotiating committee to develop an international legally binding instrument on plastic pollution, including in the marine environment (Plastic Pollution Treaties INC-1 and INC-2).

In the summer of 2023, Zhou Jinfeng delivered a speech at the "Blue Eyes in Action" public welfare environmental protection event, sharing knowledge about marine biodiversity conservation with children.
