Dr. Zhou Jinfeng Introduces the Proposed CBCGDF Water Standard to WWQA
On January 23, 2024, during a meeting with the World Water Quality Alliance (WWQA)of United Nations Environment Programme, Dr. Zhou Jinfeng, Secretary General of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF), introduced the proposed Water Standards of CBCGDF.
Dr. Zhou Jinfeng pointed out that CBCGDF is developing the new water standard because the traditionally standard only contains those chemistry factors like BOD, COD, TOD and TOC, etc. But that's far from good enough. CBCGDF wants to add contents related to microplastics and plastic waste which is quite common, and antibiotics and hormones which are really serious in recent years. CBCGDF also wants to add in watergrass and living fish. All these factors are key to consider water quality and how good is the natural water. Because water should be taken as ecosystems.
