Ms. YU Lian: Use Eco-tourism to Strengthen Ecological Protection along Liaodong Bay and Promote Local Economic Development

The "Two Sessions" Proposal Working Group of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) plans to hold the 2024 Two Sessions Proposal Meeting on February 1, 2024. The suggestions of the two sessions submitted by Ms. YU Lian, Director of the Community Conservation Area of CBCGDF are summarized and shared as follows:

(1) The coast of Liaodong Bay is the most important migratory bird stopover in China, which has important protection value.

(2) A large amount of land can be transformed into forests, wetland and other types of bird habitats, which is beneficial to the development of ecological tourism.

(3) There are successful cases to follow in developing eco-tourism to revitalize local economy on the basis of bird watching Tours. Poyang Lake Bird Watching Festival has driven the tourism economy of more than ten counties and cities in Poyang Lake, and has a good effect.

(4) Poyang Lake is the most important wintering ground for migratory birds in China, and the coast of Liaodong Bay is the most important stopping place for migratory birds in China. It occupies an important position in the migratory passage of migratory birds in East Asia and Australasia, with more important ecological value and greater influence. There are more precious bird species along Liaodong Bay. Taking cranes as an example, there are only 4 species of cranes overwintering in Poyang Lake, while there are 7 species of cranes distributed along Liaodong Bay.
