Elevating Excellence: Zhou Jinfeng Encourages BioGreen's Pursuit of Global Contribution in Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development

In the realm of scholarly discourse, the recent "Digital Publishing and Online Communication Trends" symposium, hosted by Zhou Jinfeng on Jan 17 2024, marked the inaugural meeting dedicated to the discussion of "Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development" (ISSN 2749-9065) affectionately known as BioGreen.

BioGreen has traversed the stages of inception and survival over the past period, and Zhou Jinfeng outlined key strategies for the journal's future growth and influence.

The primary focus lies in the proactive solicitation of high-quality submissions. The call is not just internal but extends beyond borders, transitioning from the publications of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) to renowned international scientific journals. External submission rates, deemed fundamental indicators of a journal's standing, are to be boosted through various means such as international conferences, social networks, and diverse avenues of academic exchange.

Equally pivotal is the emphasis on the quality of the articles. Aspire, Zhou suggests, for BioGreen to emulate the stature of esteemed publications like Science and Nature. The journal's unique advantage, its broad association with biodiversity and green development spanning multiple disciplines, serves as a platform for impactful and groundbreaking contributions. Hence, the goal is set elevate the journal's quality to become a global leader in biodiversity and green development, functioning not only as a scientific journal but also as a vital platform for science popularization.

Drawing inspiration from the successful evolution of "OceanWetlands" (海洋与湿地) Wechat Platform operated by CBCGDF-OceanWetlands Working Group, Zhou encourages BioGreen to learn and adapt. The emphasis is on leveraging the journal's strengths to produce compelling articles what Zhou refers to as "blockbuster articles." These should be internationally sourced, well-translated, and focused on informative, review-oriented, and groundbreaking content.

The third prong of Zhou's strategy is seeking external assistance akin to a football team recruiting star players. Drawing parallels, Zhou urges BioGreen to actively consider collaboration with experts from established scientific journals. He shares an anecdote of an expert who, within a year, propelled their journal to SCI status with an impact factor exceeding 3. Zhou likens this external collaboration to recruiting star players like Maradona, emphasizing the need for strategic thinking to significantly enhance the journal's impact factor.

BioGreen serves the common goal of Sustainable Development Goals. Zhou exhorts BioGreen to climb new heights. This fledgling scientific journal shoulders a significant responsibility, and the focus for the year includes intensifying efforts in soliciting submissions, improving article quality, seeking external collaboration, and, most importantly, enhancing the journal's impact factor. BioGreen, distinct from ordinary platforms of Chinese world, stands as a beacon of scientific direction, emphasis, and uniqueness. Zhou's suggestions serve as a roadmap for the team's efforts towards excellence and global contribution.
