CBCGDF Volunteers Successfully Rescued and Released a Botaurus stellaris and a Phoenicurus auroreus in Baiyangdian Wetland Conservation Area | CBCGDF CCAfa
The long winter is a challenge for waterbirds that do not participate in migration and for some resident birds. Recently, the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation(CBCGDF) Baiyangdian Wetland Conservation Area Volunteer Team successfully released a Botaurus stellaris and a Phoenicurus auroreus into the wild.
Previously, they had successfully rescued the Botaurus stellaris named "Tianya" and a Phoenicurus auroreus named "Snowflake"..
"Snowflake" responded to the volunteers' farewells with its high-frequency cry, and "Tianya" used its powerful flight to tell everyone that there is no need to worry, and could handle the remaining cold winter on its own and wait for the spring to bloom.
A Buteo japonicus named "Yangchuang" was still at the rescue station due to the band-aid on its right leg, but will be released into the wild soon.
CBCGDF Volunteers will conduct a more systematic ecological investigation of small micro-wetland communities, record in detail the changes in the wetlands and the number of birds, and contribute to the protection and restoration of wetland ecosystems.
