Extraordinary! 10 Handmade Experimental Artificial Nests Installed on High-voltage Transmission Lines in Chongqing | Migratory Bird Lifeline | BCON

On January 5th, 2024, all experimental artificial nests made for wild birds by employees of Chongqing Electric Power Company have been installed along the 500 kV transmission line in the Wanzhou area of northeast Chongqing.

Upon visual inspection, these artificial nests are approximately 50-60 centimeters high and mainly woven from natural vines and a small amount of iron wire. They were designed by Chongqing Power Grid after conducting a special investigation of birds near high-voltage transmission line towers. The staff mainly hope to gain a deeper understanding of the relationship between bird behavior and high-voltage transmission lines through these experimental artificial nests, in order to accumulate experience for the future protection of both birds and transmission lines".
