Three Eastern Grass-owl Chicks Rescued by Power Grid Employees in Chizhou, Anhui | BCON Achievements

At around 9am on December 9th, while carrying out land map rectification work near Dengta Village in Wusha Town, Guichi District, Chizhou City, local villager Xu Jingye discovered three Eastern Grass-owl chicks in the bushes of his own plot of land. With the help from volunteers and Mr. Wang Shi, the leader of the Lifeline for Migratory Birds Innovation Workstation of State Grid Anhui Electric Power and the Director of the Moon Lake Little Swan Community Conservation Area” (CCAfa) of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF), who has rich experience in bird conservation, these three Eastern Grass-owl chicks were successfully rescued and would be released to the wild after about half a month when they get enough autonomous foraging ability.

This case is one of the typical success cases of Biodiversity Conservation in Our Neighborhood (BCON) initiated by CBCGDF, which has become a key approach in the success of the Kunming -Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, and was selected by the Paris Peace Forum Organizing Committee as one of the seven major solutions in the field of biodiversity at the 6th Paris Peace Forum. It aims to reduce negative human impacts, promote positive influences on the environment, protect biodiversity through various measures in our daily lives and production processes, in order to achieve a win-win situation for both ecological and socio-economic benefits, which is, in other words, promoting harmony between human and nature through innovative design and technological means.
