In 19 Years, He Helped Nearly Ten Thousand Migratory Birds Return to the Sky | CBCGDF CCAfa
Feeding the Oriental White Stork, applying medicine to the Red-necked Falcon, and releasing the recovered the sparrowhawk, this is another ordinary but busy day for Mr. TIAN Zhiwei, who is in charge of the wild animal shelter and rescue station at the Daqing River Salt Field in Tangshan City, Hebei Province, which is also known as the Tangshan Water Bird Conservation Area of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF).
Tangshan city is an important transfer station for migratory birds along the East Asia- Australasian Flyway. Since rescuing 14 Oriental white storks in 2004, Mr. Tian Zhiwei has invested a lot of energy in wild bird protection and rescue work. He advocated the establishment of an environmental volunteer team in the Daqing River Salt Field area, patrolling the habitats of migratory birds, promoting environmental protection concepts, and raised funds to have established the a wild animal shelter and rescue station in the Daqing River Salt Field.
Over
the past 19 years, Mr. Tian Zhiwei has rescued and released nearly 10000
migratory birds and rescued more than 3000 wild birds such as gulls and waders
through artificial incubation.
