Low-carbon Life and Green Travel | Youth Voices from UNFCCC COP28

The 28th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP28) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) was officially held in Dubai from November 30 to December 12, 2023. Youth representatives from Wuhan, including Zixi Zhu, Yixin Wang, Juexi Chen, Peijie Wang, pre-recorded an English promotional video on "Low-carbon Life and Green Travel" for the conference, which was broadcasted at the "Harmonious Coexistence with Nature: Smart Grid System" themed event hosted by China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation at the IUCN Blue Zone Pavilion.

The world’s ocean ecosystems are facing mounting threats—climate change, marine pollution, overfishing, and habitat destruction due to human activities, to name a few. These pressures are particularly dangerous for marine mammals like cetaceans, whose survival hinges on healthy habitats and stable populations. Yet, in regions like the South China Sea, where biodiversity is exceptionally high, little research has been done to understand the needs and habitats of cetaceans.
