Jinfeng Zhou to Attend UNEA-6 in Nairobi: CBCGDF Engaging in Global Environmental Initiatives

On December 22, 2023, the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation's (CBCGDF) International Department received a progress update from the Committee of Permanent Representatives to the United Nations Environment Assembly (CPR Subcommittee). According to the notification, as of December 21, 2023, cluster categorizations and preparatory processes for The sixth session of the UN Environment Assembly (UNEA-6) resolutions and proposals have been released, providing guidance for the upcoming OECPR-6 and UNEA-6 meetings. In this latest version, there are five major proposal clusters, each encompassing a series of resolutions and proposals designed to address various critical environmental issues.

The China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation is actively gearing up to participate in this significant event.

Dr. Zhou Jinfeng, Secretary-General of the CBCGDF and a member of the executive committee of the Club of Rome, has confirmed his plan to attend the crucial meeting in person in Nairobi in Feb 2024.

This conference holds immense importance, serving as a platform for global leaders and environmentalists to discuss and address pressing environmental concerns. The cluster categorization and preparatory processes act as a roadmap, ensuring that the discussions and decisions made during UNEA-6 are well-informed and comprehensive.

The UNEA-6 resolutions and proposals cover a wide range of topics, underscoring the interconnectedness of environmental issues on a global scale. From climate change to biodiversity conservation, the discussions are expected to be diverse and nuanced.

The United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA) stands as a vital global platform for environmental governance. Since 2017, the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) has played a significant role as an accredited organization within the framework of the UNEA. Their active participation includes attending UNEA-4 and UNEA-5, underlining their commitment to contributing to the discussions and initiatives shaping global environmental policies. Plus, during the UNEA-5.2 in 2022, Linda Wong, a representative from the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation, actively participated in the drafting of the document titled "The UNEP We Want."

The CBCGDF's proactive involvement in the preparations reflects the organisation's long-time commitment to biodiversity conservation and sustainable green development. As the Beijing-based Foundation's representatives set their sights on Nairobi, they aim to contribute to the global dialogue on environmental protection and green initiatives.
