CBCGDF-BCON: Why do Urban Park Buildings Need to be Biodiversity Friendly?

Recently, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development has issued a notice on the public consultation on the “Measures for the Management of Urban Parks (Draft for Comments)” to widely solicit opinions, promote the development of urban parks and improve the urban ecology and human environment. The “Biodiversity Conservation in Our Neighborhood” Working Group of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF-BCON) responded positively to the call, and after serious discussion, put forward 8 suggestions in total for reference in its scientific decision-making. The following are [Recommendation 7].

[Recommendation 7] It is proposed to add a new Article: Promoting the architecture of urban parks to be more biodiversity-friendly.  

[Reason]Promoting biodiversity friendliness in urban parks has multiple benefits. By designing eco-friendly buildings, we can create more habitats; we can promote plant and animal diversity; and we can maintain ecological balance. This not only enhances the ecological value of the park, but also attracts wildlife and provides a richer viewing experience for citizens. Biodiversity-friendly architecture helps to preserve the plant gene pool, improve resilience to environmental change and promote sustainable development of the park. In addition, through the introduction of interesting designs, the public's awareness of the ecosystem is raised, and the initiative to participate in ecological protection is stimulated to promote the sustainable development of the city.
