CBCGDF Guanghan Egret Conservation Area Attracts 12 More New Bird Species this year
China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation(CBCGDF) Hangul Egret Community Conservation Area(CCAfa) located in Shuangfu Village, Nanfeng Town, Guanghan City, Sichuan Province is a dense jungle. Under the protection of Mr. LIAO Fan, director of the CBCGDF Guanghan Egret Conservation Area and his family, it has gradually become a habitat for egrets and a variety of other creatures.
In
2021, 43 species of birds were recorded in this area, including plumbeous
water-redstarts (Rhyacornis fuliginosus), little grebes (Tachybaptus
ruficollis), Chinese bulbuls (Pycnonotus sinensis), and
white-rumped munias ( Lonchura striata). In 2022, 26 new
species of birds were added, including glossy ibis (Plegadis falcinellus),
speckled piculets (Picumnus innominatus), and goldfinches(Chloris sinica).
According
to observation records, this year CBCGDF Guanghan Egret CCAfa attracts 12 new
bird species due to its better environment, including Parus minor, collared
finchbills (Spizixos semitorques), long-billed plovers(Charadrius
placidus), Anthus roseatus,
common snipes(Gallinago gallinago), crested mynas (Acridotheres
cristatellus), brown-rumped minivets (Pericrocotus cantonensis),
verditer flycatchers (Eumyias thalassinus), Pericrocotus,
black-naped orioles (Oriolus chinensis) and grey-headed canary-flycats (Culicicapa
ceylonensis).
The
number of birds living in the conservation areas is increasing year by year.
Based on the survey results of the previous two years, a total of 80 species of
birds were recorded in the past three years. In order to let more people
understand the importance of protecting the ecological environment, Mr. Liao
also regularly invites children to study, let them know and understand nature
through observation, painting, etc., and cultivate their love for life and the
ability to protect the biodiversity.
