Too Much Artificial Modification? Park Upgrades Cause Concerns | CBCGDF Volunteers’ Feedback

In the past few days, the Political Research Office of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) has received multiple reports from residents and volunteers about the upgrading project of a park in Haidian District, Beijing. It is reported that a forest that had been planted in the park for many years has been completely uprooted. Instead, artificial trees and some roses have been planted losing the natural state of wild flowers and plants which appears too much artificial modification traces.

 



 The park renovation project reported by surrounding residents and volunteers belongs to the 2023 Green Partition of Park Function Improvement Project in the Haidian District, aiming to accelerate the high-quality development of green partition area of parks and strive to build green partition parks into "citizens' paradise and wildlife’s home". The original intention was good, but how to achieve the goal and truly align with high-quality development requires scientific argumentation and reflection.
