CBCGDF Actively Participated in Providing Suggestions for the "Food Security Law (Second Review Draft)"

Food is the foundation of human survival. Food security, as the foundation for maintaining economic and social stability and national security, is "the most important thing in a country" and has been the top priority of national management since ancient times. The "Report of the State Council on Ensuring National Food Security" proposes eight measures, including strengthening the food security system and capacity building, accelerating the construction of a modern food industry and circulation system, continuously improving diversified food supply capabilities, and carrying out in-depth food conservation and loss reduction actions.

The formulation of special laws to ensure food security is the basis for all-round protection of food security. On June 28, 2023, the "Food Security Law of the People's Republic of China (Draft)" was announced and the first collection of opinions was conducted.

On October 25, 2023, the "Food Security Law of the People's Republic of China (Second Review Draft)" will solicit opinions again. The "Second Review Draft" sets out legislative arrangements from aspects such as farmland protection, grain production, grain reserves, grain circulation, grain processing, grain emergency response, grain conservation, supervision and management, and legal liability.
