The CBCGDF Legal Working Committee Put Forward Several Suggestions for Amendments to the "Regulations on the Protection of Terrestrial Wildlife in Yunnan Province

Yunnan Province is an international biodiversity hotspot with very rich terrestrial wildlife resources. There are a total of 386 species of terrestrial wildlife under national key protection distributed in Yunnan Province. Among them, 25 species of wild animals, including Asian elephants, green peacocks, Yunnan golden monkeys, and white-browed gibbons, are unique to Yunnan Province or are mainly distributed in Yunnan Province. Therefore, the protection of terrestrial wildlife in Yunnan Province has arduous tasks and heavy responsibilities. In order to be consistent with the newly revised "Wildlife Protection Law of the People's Republic of China" in 2022, the " Terrestrial Wildlife Protection Regulations in Yunnan Province" need to be revised. Therefore, the Yunnan Provincial Forestry and Grassland Bureau organized the preparation of the "Yunnan Provincial Terrestrial Wildlife Protection Regulations (Draft for Comments)", in which the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation actively participated and proposed revisions.

The Legal Working Committee of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation attaches great importance to the revision of the "Terrestrial Wildlife Protection Regulations in Yunnan Province". After organizing careful research and discussion, it put forward 8 suggestions for modifications to the "Draft for Comments" and submitted to Yunnan Forestry and Grassland Bureau Wildlife Conservation Division.
