The CBCGDF Legal Working Committee Put Forward Suggestions for Modifications to the “List of Prohibited and Restricted Non-degradable Disposable Plastic Products in Henan Province”

Non-degradable disposable plastic products have a stable structure and are not easily degraded by microorganisms. If they remain in the natural environment for a long time, they will cause great harm to the soil, ocean and other ecological environments. While seriously polluting the natural environment, non-degradable disposable plastic products also seriously threaten the safety and health of many organisms and humans.


In order to further strengthen the control of plastic pollution and establish and improve a long-term management mechanism for plastic products, many international departments have formulated regulations. Since then, various regions have successively introduced a series of management measures to ban and restrict disposable plastic products. The Henan Provincial Development and Reform Commission also drafted the "List of Prohibited and Restricted Non-degradable Disposable Plastic Products in Henan Province (Draft for Comments)".

 

The "Draft for Comments on the List" refines prohibited and restricted products into 11 non-degradable disposable plastic products. In addition to covering daily necessities such as shopping bags, disposable tableware, cotton swabs, straws, etc., it also covers agricultural mulch films used on a large scale in agriculture. .

 

The Legal Working Committee of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation attaches great importance to this. After careful study, it put forward seven suggestions for revision, hoping to provide support for the plastic ban and restriction work in Henan Province. While making suggestions, the CBCGDF Legal Committee called on the whole society to pay attention to and respond to the national call, strictly abide by and implement national and local laws, regulations and policies on plastic bans and restrictions, and build a better home together.
