FAO Contribution and Cooperation | Third day of the Tenth Session of the Governing Body of ITPGRFA | CBCGDF Delegates Report in Rome, 22 November, 2023

 

November 22, 2023 is the third day of the tenth session of the Governing Body of the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (ITPGRFA). The delegation of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) is participating in the conference in Rome, Italy from Nov. 20 to 24, 2023.

In the meeting, the contribution of the Food and Agriculture Organization to the implementation of ITPGRFA and the cooperation with international instruments and organizations were reported, including the cooperation with the FAO Commission on Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (CGRFA), the Global Crop Diversity Trust, and the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). Most delegates expressed their support on the cooperation and many representatives of international organizations expressed their gratitude thanking the support of emergency funds and calling for more cooperation.



The evening plenary discussed future steps of the revision process for the enhancement of the Multilateral System (MLS) of access and benefit-sharing, including scheduling of Working Goup meetings, sequencing of items to be addressed, and coordination with the CBD Working Group on digital sequence information (DSI).
