CBCGDF Deputy Secretary-general had an Online Discussion with Researchers from the Shanghe County Natural Resources Bureau about Educational Base for Science in Shanghe

Shanghe County is located in the northernmost part of Jinan City, with a total area of approximately 1,162.6 square kilometres and a total forest area of 11,000 hectares. Since 2010, Shanghe County has begun large-scale artificial breeding of white moth Zhou's wasps, and all the bred bees have been released in various districts and counties in Jinan. Artificial physical and biological control measures have been adopted to effectively reduce the use of pesticides, protect regional biodiversity, and promote ecological micro-balance.

(From Yan Jiahe)
Mr. Yan Jiahe of the Shanghe County Natural Resources Bureau introduced, over the past 10 years, more than 230 species and 1.917 million insects have been identified at light-induced monitoring points. In the process of pest control, spraying measures are highly important. Precise spraying and drones are adopted, and broad-spectrum pesticides will not be used when unnecessary. In terms of scientific research, Yan actively investigated and collected various species of forestry harmful organisms and natural enemies, published 76 academic papers, and participated in the compilation of 5 books.

(From Yan Jiahe)

Professor Zhou Chenggang, who also participated in the meeting, added that the vegetation in Shanghe County is relatively single and should be prone to pests and diseases. However, due to the timely discovery and prevention measures taken by researcher Yan Jiahe and the Shanghe team, there have been no frequent pests and diseases in these years, which shows that Sufficient work has been done in monitoring, forecasting and scientific prevention and control of pests and diseases.

(From Yan Jiahe)

The deputy secretary-general of CBCGDF highly recognized the efforts and contributions made by researcher Yan Jiahe in biological pest control, and invited Yan Jiahe to become an expert of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation, hoping to work together in the future in the field of biological pest control. The licensing of the base for scientific education will be completed as soon as possible.
