QIU Li Suggested Strengthening Internal Review of the Ecological Impact of Large Water Conservancy Projects and Self-regulation of Ecological Priorities

The year 2024 is an important year for further promoting the high-quality development of water resources in the new stage and comprehensively improving China's national water security capability. From November 7 to 20, Ministry of Water Resources the People's Republic of China held the 2024 National Water Conservancy Work Meeting to gather wisdom and unite efforts, and specially solicited suggestions and suggestions from the public.


Recently, QIU Li, the expert of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) put forward the hope to strengthen the internal review of the ecological impact of large water conservancy projects and ecological priority self-discipline; stop the proposed large-scale water conservancy projects that will have a great impact on the ecology and have long been debated in society; strengthen the review and supervision of ecological assessment in the EIA part of the proposed project; strengthen the ecological supervision mechanism of the construction process and acceptance projects.
