CBCGDF Nominated a Female Expert to Participate in the IPBES Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities Working Group

On November 19,2023, the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) nominated a Chinese female expert to the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) to participate in Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities (IPLCs) working group. The nomination aimed to support sustainable development, especially in evaluating the knowledge of biodiversity and contribution of nature to humans.

IPBES is dedicated to regularly and promptly assessing knowledge about biodiversity and ecosystem services, along with their interrelationships, by conducting comprehensive thematic, global, and regional assessments. IPBES has finished 11 assessment tasks at present.

Furthermore, the IPBES 2030 work plan encompasses the following assessments:

1. Relationship Assessment: A thematic assessment of the interconnections between biodiversity, water, food, and health in the context of climate change.

2. Transformative Change Assessment: A thematic assessment examining the root causes of biodiversity loss, determinants of transformative change, and options for achieving the 2050 Biodiversity Vision.

3. Enterprise and Biodiversity Assessment: A methodological assessment of the dependence and impact of enterprises on biodiversity and nature on humans.

4. Monitoring and Evaluation: An evaluation of methods for monitoring biodiversity and nature's impact on humans.

5. Second Global Assessment: The second global assessment on biodiversity and ecosystem services will be launched.

The CBCGDF has nominated several experts. If selected, they will play a crucial part in this global platform and collaborate to evaluate the state of knowledge on biodiversity and ecosystem services, providing scientific support for future sustainable development.
