TIAN Yuzao: Problem of Aral Sea Drying up

Recently,  having been authorized by professor DIAN Yuzao, the OceanWetland platform of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation(CBCGDF) reposted his article titled Problem of Aral Sea Drying up, first released in 1990.

The drying up of the Aral Sea and related factors are cumulative, affecting the economic activities of the three countriesUzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Kazakhstan, involving many sectors and fields of industrial and agricultural production and infrastructure construction. The drying up of the Aral Sea did not occur overnight. It is the inevitable result of economic development activities in Central Asia and Kazakhstan for more than half a century. It is also the concentrated manifation of the multi-dimensional interconnection of the "human-society-nature" system in the desert area. There are profound social reasons for the drying up of the Aral Sea.
