China State Grid Tangshan Electric Power Company Organized Joint Patrol for Eastern White Storks | CBCGDF Research Department | BCON

On November 17, 2023, the State Grid Public Welfare Foundation, tthe Research Department of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF), Community Conservation Area” (CCAfa), State Grid Tangshan Electric Power Company (Tangshan Company), as well as the Wildlife Conservation Association in Tangshan and the Wetland Research Institute in Caofeidian District, Tangshan, went to Heiyanzi Town on the banks of Bohai Bay to participate in a patrol for the Oriental White Stork Patrol.

Heiyanzi Town in Tangshan City is an important stop in the EAAF. In order to avoid potential power transmission safety hazards caused by large birds like the Oriental White Stork nesting, and to better conservation migratory birds and the local ecological environment, Tangshan Company joined the "Lifeline for Migratory Birds" project in 2019.

Over the next four years, Tangshan Company actively attempted to install protective barriers, built three artificial nests and volunteer workstations, and established management and conservation mechanisms.

On November 17th, they also visited the temporary rescue station for wildlife protection and held a communication and report meeting on joint patrol and conservation of the Oriental White Storks at the Heiyanzi Power Supply Station. They summarized in detail "Lifeline for Migratory Birds" Project and discussed future work plans.
