Three Questions on the Participation of Chinese Non-governmental Organizations in the UNFCCC COP28

On October 27, 2023, a workshop on capacity building for Chinese non-governmental organizations to participate in the 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference was held in Beijing, China.

The content of the meeting triggered some thoughts. Due to the time limit, there is no opportunity to ask questions at the scene, now the questions are sorted out as follows:

Q1: It is a very important role for non-governmental organizations to build bridges for science and technology experts to participate in climate governance.

a) How can Chinese experts better participate in the writing of scientific reports (such as IPCC reports)? What are the ways in which non-governmental organizations can help scientists?

b) How can Chinese scholars and non-governmental organizations improve their ability to speak and set issues in the international academic climate field?

Q 2: How to better grasp certainty in uncertainty?

In the workshop, an expert shared on “Global climate negotiations in the era of VUCA (volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity)”. There are many uncertainties in the climate negotiations, how to better grasp the uncertainty in the uncertainty?

Q 3: How to make the voice of China good from the perspective of non-governmental organizations? In the face of some public opinion, how can we stand up and effectively speak out for China's efforts and achievements?
