CBCGDF-BCON to Co-host "First Forum on Ancient Trees and Beautiful Rural Development and Training Seminar on Ancient Tree Protection" | Nanjing, China

Ancient trees, as living relics of nature, carry profound historical and cultural significance and hold immeasurable value for both ecological conservation and rural development. To explore the synergy between ancient tree protection and rural development, the First Forum on Ancient Trees and Beautiful Rural Development, along with a Training Seminar on Ancient Tree Protection, is set to take place from October 25 to 28, 2023, in Nanjing, China. This event is jointly organized by the Tree Society of the Chinese Forestry Society, Nanjing Forestry University, and the Neighborhood Biodiversity Conservation Working Group of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF-BCON). The forum is expected to attract experts, scholars, rural developers, and ecological enthusiasts from diverse backgrounds.

The event will be held in the village of Shangyan in the Qingshan community of Chunhua Street, Jiangning District, Nanjing, and will be hosted by Gushu Hospital (Beijing) Co., Ltd. Ancient Tree Hospital (Beijing) Co., Ltd. is a technology-based company dedicated to the protection of ancient trees. Over four days, the forum will delve into the cultural value and historical significance of ancient trees and explore the practices of ancient tree protection both domestically and internationally. The agenda includes topics such as diagnosing and preventing diseases and pests affecting ancient trees, as well as case studies and technical guidance for the rescue and rejuvenation of ancient trees. The primary aim is to provide practical experiences and technical support to enhance the preservation of ancient trees.


The forum's schedule encompasses not only theoretical and research aspects but also emphasizes the practical implementation of the entire industry chain of ancient tree protection, thus promoting comprehensive preservation and sustainable development of ancient trees. Furthermore, field visits are planned to observe practical cases of ancient tree restoration, enhancing participants' knowledge and skills related to ancient tree conservation.


The First Forum on Ancient Trees and Beautiful Rural Development and Training Seminar on Ancient Tree Protection will bring together experts from various fields to collectively explore how to protect these precious natural resources. It will also focus on the integration of ancient tree conservation with rural development, contributing to the realization of the rural revitalization strategy.


The China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation's Neighborhood Biodiversity Conservation Working Group (CBCGDF-BCON) has been dedicated to biodiversity conservation, particularly by encouraging public involvement in local biodiversity preservation. Biodiversity Conservation in Our Neighborhood (BCON) is a global biodiversity solution aimed at mitigating the rapid loss of biodiversity through people-centric solutions. As an innovative approach to biodiversity conservation in the era of ecological civilization, BCON involves active participation of people in biodiversity preservation in their daily lives, reducing their ecological footprint and contributing to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). As of September 2023, over 200 Community Conservation Areas have been established to promote neighborhood biodiversity conservation. BCON has also been selected as one of the biodiversity projects by the Paris Peace Forum 2023.
