The 13th Sustainable Livestock Global Agenda Multi-Stakeholder Platform Meeting (China) co-sponsored by CBCGDF was Successfully Held in Beijin

On October 17, 2023, the 13th Sustainable Livestock Global Agenda Multi-Stakeholder Platform Meeting (China) was held in Beijing. The conference was guided by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), hosted by the Beijing Institute of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and the National Animal Husbandry Science and Technology Innovation Alliance, and co-sponsored by the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) and Beijing Chuchenbieyuan Cultural Communication Co., Ltd., and co-organized by CBCGDF ACTAsia Fund. Xiao Qing, Deputy Secretary-General of CBCGDF, attended the meeting.


At the beginning of the conference, under the theme of "Sustainable Development and Green Diversification of China's Animal Husbandry Industry", Shirley Tarawali, Chairman of GASL of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and Thanawat Tiensin, the Assistant Director-General of the International Livestock Research Institute, and the Department of Animal Production and Health of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Director sent a congratulatory message to the conference through a video.

 


From the Science and Technology Administration of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the Beijing Institute of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the Feed Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the Anhui Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the Animal Welfare International Cooperation Branch of the China Association for the Promotion of International from Agricultural Cooperation, and the Scientific Research Institute of the National Grain and Material Reserves Administration, Beijing Low Carbon Agriculture Association, National Animal Husbandry Station, Yazhou Bay National Laboratory Lamb Breeding Team, United Nations Industrial Development Organization Global Innovation Network ESG and Carbon Neutral Investment Committee and other institutions, well-known experts, scholars and business representatives, including 200 representatives attended the plenary session. The topics of the two parallel sessions in the afternoon were "Animal Health and Animal Welfare, Livestock Product Quality and Animal Nutrition" and "Sustainable Development and Low-Carbon Breeding, Livestock Livelihood and Economic Forum Growth" which attracted the attention of many participants.


Representatives at the conference analyzed the sustainable development of animal husbandry from different perspectives, such as smart breeding, liquid phase chip application, digital economic assistance, plant leadership, etc. Representatives at the meeting also had an in-depth discussion on food security issues and guarantees, and low-carbon applications in the development of animal husbandry, such as strategies to address climate change and ensure national food security in the grain circulation industry, ruminant methane emission reduction technologies and strategies, and low-carbon emission reduction of livestock and poultry manure. Promote the circular development of agriculture and rural revitalization through diversified management of rural agriculture and animal husbandry, cooperation in planting and breeding, and integration of local breed breeding and tourism industries.


The Global Agenda Multi-Stakeholder Platform for Sustainable Livestock (MSP) was initiated by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and is held annually among member units of the Global Agenda for Sustainable Livestock. It aims to jointly address the challenges in the livestock industry. This Multi-Stakeholder Platform Meeting (MSP) on the Global Agenda for Sustainable Livestock will jointly address the challenges facing the livestock industry and promote the food industry through communication, consultation, and multi-party participation among all stakeholders including research institutions, industry, science and technology circles, and social groups. and sustainable agricultural development. The results of the meeting will be reported at the 13th East and Southeast Asia Regional Conference in Thailand in November.
