CUI Xinhong: An Important Approach to Improve Biodiversity in Shanghai's Urban Parks

The Biodiversity Conservation and Green Design Meeting with the theme of “Biodiversity Conservation Solutions and Design for Planetary Emergencies & GBF Goals” was held at 9:00 on October 17, 2023 in the College of Design and Innovation,Tongji University, Shanghai.


The meeting is co-hosted by the International Department of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation and College of Design and Innovation, Tongji University. It is co-organized by Zhejiang University International Business School; Ocean and Wetland Working Group, China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation.

CUI Xinhong, Vice President of Shanghai Academy of Landscape Architecture Science and Planning, delivered a keynote speech on the theme of "Returning Native Biodiversity to Shanghai City Parks". He shared with the participants three important ways to improve the biodiversity of Shanghai urban parks: first, to study and evaluate native plant resources and increase the application ratio of native plants in park green space; The second is to optimize the allocation of plant community and build a "landmark" green plant community near nature; The third is the targeted construction of diverse habitats close to nature to provide a living environment for human-friendly animals and indigenous microorganisms.
