The Interpretation of the Theme of ICCOP 2023 (12)

2023 International Climate Conference of People Forum (ICCOP 2023) is going to be held by China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) on September 3rd, 2023, during 2023 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS). This conference aims to empower individuals and communities to actively participate in mitigating climate change and creating a sustainable future for all. The theme of this forum is“Dual Carbon Goals and Environmental Services". In order to contribute to the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals, the meeting will implement the Standard for Green Meeting (T/CGDF 00027-2021) to effectively reduce biodiversity and carbon footprints, by promoting recycling of conference materials, prohibiting paper prints, enhancing reduction of energy consumption, food waste and disposable bottled water, as well as encouraging carbon offsets, etc.

Active participation in international environmental governance plays a significant role in promoting environmental services and achieving the dual carbon goals. It fosters cooperation, knowledge sharing, and collective action on a global scale, enabling countries to collectively address pressing environmental challenges.

Effective international environmental governance creates an enabling environment for sustainable development. Through agreements and protocols, it establishes common standards, regulations, and principles that guide nations in their efforts to protect the environment. By actively engaging in these processes, countries can contribute to the development of comprehensive frameworks and strategies for managing climate change, biodiversity loss, and other critical environmental issues.

Countries can learn from each other's experiences and best practices by participating in international environmental governance. It provides a platform for exchanging scientific research, technological advancements, and innovative approaches to tackling environmental problems. This knowledge-sharing not only helps countries improve their own environmental management practices but also fosters joint efforts towards sustainable solutions.

Furthermore, active engagement in international environmental governance helps countries leverage global resources and support. By being part of international forums and initiatives, nations can access financial assistance, technical expertise, and capacity-building opportunities from other countries and international organizations. This support is crucial for developing countries, enabling them to invest in cleaner technologies, build resilient infrastructure, and implement effective policies for mitigating climate change and protecting ecosystems.
