Cost-effective Combination of Diatomite and Beauveria Bassiana in Ecological Agriculture | BCON-190
With the improvement of people’s awareness of environmental protection and health, ecological agriculture, as a sustainable agricultural model, has received increasing attention. In this context, the combination of diatomite and Beauveria bassiana, which can be used as a long-acting broad-spectrum pesticide, is considered to be a safe and reliable innovative solution to replace traditional chemical pesticides.
Diatomite is a natural material with good adsorption and water retention abilities. As a natural material, it is crushed from siliceous rocks. Under the microscope, the edges have sharp corners and porous structures. Diatomite has strong adhesion quality and can be used as an assistant, which has the function of killing insects. Compared with traditional chemical pesticides, diatomite has lower costs and less impact on the environment and ecosystem. Beauveria bassiana is a microorganism that is harmful to pests but harmless to natural enemies, so as to achieve biological control. This combination is not only effective in controlling pests, but also has a better protection effect on the ecological environment.
Recently, Mr. Wang Yanjing, director of a demonstration station of Biodiversity Conservation in Our Neighborhood (BCON) in Shandong Province, highlights the feasibility of eco-agriculture. He points out that growing vegetables and crops does not necessarily require a lot of pesticides, and there are many simple and economical ways to achieve biological control. Based on the concept of biodiversity conservation, this eco-friendly agricultural method can not only increase the yield, but also help to protect the natural ecosystem.
