CBCGDF Arranges to Participate the Fifth Montevideo Environmental Law Programme Regional Meeting and the Third ASEAN Environmental Law Conference
The International Department of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) recently received an invitation to attend the Fifth Montevideo Environmental Law Programme Regional Meeting - Asia Pacific, West Asia and Central Asia Regions, and the Third ASEAN Environmental Law Conference. In order to respond positively to the invitation, on August 14th, 2023, the International Department of CBCGDF made arrangements for the upcoming conference.
The conference will be held from August 15th to 18th with a tight but rich schedule. At the opening ceremony of the first day, key figures from United Nations scientific and technological institutions will deliver keynote speeches, which will set the tone for the conference.
The agenda of the second day (August 16th) will mainly focus on the development of Montevideo Programme. Participants will hold discussions on how to strengthen the implementation and influence of environmental protection law in Southeast Asia with the help of Montevideo Programme.
The agenda of the third day (August 17th) will cover a number of hot topics, including enhancing access to environmental information, strengthening public participation in environmental decision-making, and protecting the environmental rights and interests of vulnerable groups. At the same time, it will also include environmental protection issues such as air pollution, marine equity, cross-border issues and plastic pollution, and provide a platform for experts in different fields to share and exchange.
On the fourth day (August 18th), the agenda will focus on environmental rights and interests, environmental public interest litigation in the ASEAN region, and consultation on the framework of environmental rights and interests in ASEAN. In addition, the meeting will summarize and review the discussion results of the meeting, and Dr. Matthew Baird will preside over the closing ceremony.
